Cantina Sportoletti VILLA FIDELIA BIANCO
Classification: Umbria Bianco IGT
Vintage: 2021.
Grape varieties: Grechetto 50%, Chardonnay 50%
The name Villa Fidelia® comes from a 19th-century villa located just 500 metres from the estate, which is part of the historical and cultural heritage of the town of Spello. The vineyards lie at an altitude of between 300 and 400 metres above sea level. The mild climate of this area guarantees wines of high quality. These vineyards were planted around the year 2000.
The harvest of these grapes begins in August. After harvesting, the grapes are taken directly to the cellar and processed, with a rapid cooling with dry ice down to 10 °C in the first phase and then pressing, all to preserve the distinctive flavour. The wine is then kept for at least 4 months in 228-litre barriques, and for perfect maturation it rests for at least 1 more year in the bottle after filling before being marketed.
This wine has been made by the famous winemaker Riccardo Cotarella since 1998 — a very special collaboration with a winemaker who earned his reputation at his Falesco estate in Montecchio near Terni in Umbria.
This straw-yellow wine with golden hues has aromas of honey, hazelnut, butter and vanilla on the nose, along with a delicate scent of pink grapefruit and exotic fruits. On the palate the wine is full and long-lasting, with a balsamic flavour.
