Cantina Sportoletti, Spello.
Cantina Sportoletti in Spello falls under the Assisi DOC wine region, which was established in 1997. The family, now in its 4th generation, produces a small range of wines, but they are all unique and well worth discovering! Umbriaweine discovered this wine house in November 2017 and, during our visit, enjoyed a lovely tour followed by a wine tasting. We immediately decided to add these lovely wines to our portfolio.
Sportoletti’s wines are good wines, thanks to the right mild climate in this part of Umbria. All of Sportoletti’s wines are of the highest quality. This estate offers only a very small range of wines: 2 red wines, 2 white wines and 1 Passito (dessert wine), so quality is always in the foreground. The whole family works in the estate, which grew out of a farm. At the end of the 1970s, the brothers Ernesto and Remo converted it and decided to focus exclusively on winemaking. And they have succeeded very well!
Umbriaweine is proud to market these wines, and the family greatly appreciates that the wines are now also sold in Germany. The Sportoletti wine house is a very lovely discovery with a small palette of beautiful wines.

Sportoletti wine cellar, at the front the Villa Fidelia Bianco, which is aged for up to 6 months in oak barrels, and further back the Villa Fidelia Rosso, which is aged for up to 24 months in this way.
