Description
Cantina La Veneranda Montefalco Sagrantino Passito
The La Veneranda estate has been producing wine and olive oil in this area since 1568 and can look back on a very long tradition. The name “La Veneranda” only emerged at the end of the 20th century and goes back to Maria Aloisa, who ran the estate from 1827 and earned the name “La Veneranda” (the venerable one).
The Montefalco Sagrantino Passito is the traditional dessert wine of this area and has been made since the Middle Ages. After the grapes are harvested, they are air-dried for 2 to 3 months, which makes the grapes sweeter, after which they are pressed.
Once the grapes are pressed, ageing takes place for at least 36 months, partly in small oak barrels and in the bottle.
This Passito has a very special structure and a typical tannin, and brings a pleasant sweetness to the fore. This wine is very suitable for long cellaring. Excellent with game dishes, mature cheeses, almond pastries or as an accompaniment to desserts, or on its own.
Please do not drink this Passito too cold: the aromas develop best at a temperature of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. Delivered in a bottle with 0.5 litre content.
