Castello di Montegiove has a history spanning many centuries. From the very beginning, wine and olive oil have been produced here. The Misciattelli Mocenigo Soranzo family has owned this castle with over 1,200 hectares since the 17th century. Since 2008, the successor Lorenzo has taken over the whole estate and has had the castle, including the cellar, renovated.
Montegiove belongs to the Orvieto wine region and produces 1 white wine, 1 rosé wine and 4 red wines, plus a top-quality DOP olive oil. These products are now available at Umbriaweine. Wines with grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Canaiolo Nero. These wines are dedicated to the ancestors who made all of this possible.
The estate today has around 9 hectares of vineyards that have been replanted over the past decades. In addition, hundreds of olive trees, some of which are over 100 years old.
