Description
Cantina La Veneranda Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG
The La Veneranda estate has been producing wine and olive oil in this area since 1568 and can look back on a very long tradition. The name “La Veneranda” only emerged at the end of the 20th century and goes back to Maria Aloisa, who ran the estate from 1827 and earned the name “La Veneranda” (the venerable one).
The “king” among the wines of the Montefalco wine region is without question the Sagrantino. A wine full of tannin, intensely ruby-red in the glass with shades towards garnet. The Sagrantino variety has been produced since the Middle Ages and reflects the flavour of this exceptional region of Umbria. On the nose strawberries, raspberries and a hint of herbs and vanilla, sweet tobacco and coffee.
On the palate dry with the typical tannin of the Sagrantino grape, but well balanced, without overpowering alcohol. Pleasant to drink and fresh. A Sagrantino is very suitable for long cellaring: up to 15 years. Over the years this wine changes in the bottle and becomes softer and even more pleasant.
Pairs well with cheese, pasta with meat sauce, red meat or various roasts. We recommend drinking this wine at a temperature of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. This Sagrantino is delivered in a quality glass bottle, extra thick and with a special sealing of the cork. Very nice as a gift!
